We recommend a Sarah's Trunk presentation before bringing children to the farmstead. This in-class demonstration answers the question, "What was it like in the daily life of the frontier community?"

Time Travel Thursdays

Takes place every Thursday in July

from 9:00-11:00am

​Highlighting hands-on Pioneer activities.

Sarah’s Trunk, is specially designed to connect students with early pioneer living in Dripping Springs using real artifacts.  By tracing Joseph and Sarah Pound’s journey to Texas and their subsequent family life, Sarah’s Trunk prepares the students for their visit to the Pound House.

All tours are guided by our knowledegable docents and include the main house, barn, blacksmith shop, smokehouse, and all additional outbuildings on the farmstead.

A small snack is provided at each meeting.

Class sizes are limited and Reservations are required. The cost is $10 per class per child.

Previous years have had activities such as learning the canning process, Pioneer games and toys, including making their own wooden puppet, and presentations from the local Beeswax company which included making their own candles.

School Tours (50+children)    

$3.00 per student, $5.00 adult

The price for a school tour of 50 or more, is $3.00 per student and $5.00 per parent/ chaperon who accompany them. Teachers and bus drivers are free with school ID.  Please collect parent/chaperon fees prior to field trip date.

The price for a school tour is $5.00 per person. Teachers and bus drivers are free with school ID. Please collect parent/ chaperon fees prior to field trip date.

Fees will be due 7 days prior to selected date.  In the event of a rain out or weather delay, your paid tour will be applied to rescheduled date.
